About the Hackathon
The Cape Town Software Development Meetup - Open Payments Hackathon forms part of a community-driven initiative supported by the Interledger Foundation. The event gives participants an opportunity to learn about open payment technologies and apply them to a real South African challenge.
Over the course of the hackathon, teams will research, design and prototype payment solutions that could help spaza shops and small informal businesses participate more effectively in the digital economy.
The objective is not to produce a complete commercial product. Teams should instead demonstrate a realistic and thoughtfully designed proof of concept showing how open payment technology could address the challenge.
